This trip is for the person who looks at a map of Switzerland and sees a connect-the-dots of mountain passes. The Gotthard. The Furka — Bond’s road from Goldfinger. The Grimsel, the Susten, the Klausen, the Nufenen. Each one is a masterpiece of engineering threaded through scenery that doesn’t seem real. The Swiss Pass Hunter links them all into a single week of driving that will wear out your brakes and fill your camera roll ten times over.

You’ll overnight in Dijon on the way out — good food, easy drive — then head into central Switzerland and base yourself in the mountains. The days are built around pass routes: three in a day is typical, with a mountain lunch somewhere in between. The Furka is dramatic and exposed. The Susten is wide and flowing. The Klausen is narrow and technical. The Nufenen — Switzerland’s highest paved pass — is lonely and spectacular. There’s a free day near the end to go back and drive your favourite one again, because you will have a favourite.

Then it’s back to Dijon, a final dinner in Burgundy, and home through France. Eight days, seven nights, and more world-class passes than any other trip we run. If driving mountain roads is your thing, this is the one.

Day by Day

The Itinerary

Day 1

Eurotunnel & Drive to Dijon

Eurotunnel crossing and drive south through France to Burgundy. A relaxed overnight stop before the Swiss Alps adventure begins tomorrow.

Day 2

Dijon to Central Switzerland

Drive south through France into Switzerland. Arrive in the Andermatt or Interlaken area — your base for the next five days of high-altitude Swiss pass driving.

Day 3

Gotthard, Furka & Grimsel

Three legendary passes in one day. The Gotthard — historic and dramatic. The Furka — where James Bond drove in Goldfinger. The Grimsel — dark granite and reservoir lakes. Each one unforgettable.

Day 4

Susten & Klausen

Two more passes today. The Susten offers sweeping curves through lush Alpine valleys, while the Klausen descends through dramatic gorges and tight hairpins. Both are Swiss driving at its finest.

Day 5

Nufenen & Simplon

Drive over the Nufenen — Switzerland’s highest paved pass at 2,478m — with a wild, exposed summit. Continue over the Simplon Pass, the historic trade route to Italy, before returning via the Rhône Valley.

Day 6

Driver’s Choice

Your choice today. Revisit a favourite pass, drive the Brünig Pass to Lucerne for lakeside coffee, or take a slower day exploring Swiss villages and valleys. Your route notes cover all options.

Day 7

Switzerland to Dijon

Leave the Alps behind and drive west through the rolling Jura hills back to France. Final Burgundy evening with local wine and a sense of achievement — seven Swiss passes conquered.

Day 8
